The Theme Of Father/son Relationships In Beowulf & The Song Of Roland :: Epic of Beowulf Essays
The Theme of Father/Son Relationships in Beowulf & The Song of Roland The portrayal of father-child type connections in early Medieval scholarly works is a key topic early creators used to give their works more profundity furthermore, which means. Two works that utilization the topic of father-child connections are Beowulf and The Song of Roland. In Beowulf, the connection between Hrothgar furthermore, Beowulf is one in which there is no real blood father-child tie, however the two characters take on all the attributes of a genuine dad child relationship. Hrothgar, in spite of the fact that Beowulf's senior, needs to depend on this new warrior who comes to Heorot to assist him with freeing his realm of an incredible peril which he can not get free of without anyone else, and Hrothgar regards him as though he were his own child. In The Tune of Roland, Charles' relationship with his nephew Roland additionally takes on the qualities of a dad child type relationship. In this work, in spite of the fact that Charles is the preferred warrior over Roland, he depends on Roland to watch the back watchman of his military and Roland loses his life while serving his King. The criticalness of these between generational connections will be taken a gander at in this paper, just as what the creators through the pretense of these dad child connections were attempting to state about different various parts of life during their time. In Beowulf, the capacity of the connection among Hrothgar and Beowulf assists with advancing the plot in a few different ways. At whatever point there is a dependence on family in any artistic work, it gives any story all the more importance and centrality. At the point when Beowulf initially shows up in Hrothgars' corridor, we get a feeling of the old and unfit state Hrothgar is in "old and silver haired among the gatekeeper of earls" (Beowulf, pg. 62) is the means by which he is first portrayed. When hearing who Beowulf's father is he states in a cheerful tone "I knew him when he was a child!..Well does the child currently pay this approach a demonstrated ally!" (Beowulf, pg. 62-63) Immediately there is an affectionate relationship here which will grow considerably further. When Beowulf asserts that he is in Heorot to purge the individuals of the beast named Grendel who is tormenting them, Hrothgar is thankful and he states "So it is to battle with all due respect, my companion Beowulf, and as a thoughtful gesture that you have come to us here!" (Beowulf, pg. 65) We see here that Hrothgar is to be sure appreciative to have the administrations of so fearless a warrior. Acupuncture for Chronic Headache in Primary Care
Needle therapy for Chronic Headache in Primary Care Research Critique Presentation Research includes the utilization of precise techniques to answer a request. It includes information assortment, blend and investigation in the light of the inquiry or request; and definition of ends and proposals, (Badke, 2004). General kinds of research incorporate trial contemplates which ââ¬Å"are used to test the impact of a treatment or interventionâ⬠, (Peat, 2001, p. 16). Clinical path fall under the general class of trial preliminaries. Clinical preliminaries are controlled tests with patients, which extend from ââ¬Å"studies to forestall, distinguish, analyze, control and treat medical issues to investigations of the mental effect of a medical issue and approaches to improve peopleââ¬â¢s wellbeing, solace, working, and nature of lifeâ⬠, (Brooten, 2006, p.86). For the most part, clinical preliminaries can be classified into either randomized preliminaries or non-randomized preliminaries. This paper will attempt to assess the logical research led by Vickers and partners (2004), entitled: Acupuncture for ceaseless cerebral pain in essential consideration: enormous, businesslike, randomized preliminary, which was distributed on 15 March 2004 at the British Medical Journal. This specific subject was chosen because of its pertinence to this field of study. Various bits of knowledge from this field of study and important best practice data in quantitative research techniques can be picked up from undertaking this investigating task. This study will be done utilizing the exploration structure for evaluating wellbeing research figured by Caldwell and associates (2005), which gives an extensive arrangement of rules against which the components of the examination article by Vickers and partners (2004) can be fittingly estimated. This paper will initially assess the diagram of the examination, including the theoretical, writing survey and the procedure utilized. Next, it will f undamentally break down issues concerning research morals, information insurance and research financing. At that point, it will assess the unwavering quality, legitimacy of the examination results, including the inspecting techniques utilized. It will at that point distinguish the particular qualities and shortcomings of the examination article. At last, the finishing up judgment about the exploration article will be introduced. The following are the meanings of chose significant terms utilized in the exploration article: Needle therapy â⬠relates to the ââ¬Å"technique of conventional Chinese medication, wherein various fine metal needles are embedded into the skin at exceptionally assigned pointsâ⬠, (ââ¬Å"Acupunctureâ⬠, 2007). ANCOVA â⬠represents ââ¬Ëanalysis of covarianceââ¬â¢ which is a factual treatment that consolidates examination of fluctuation (ANOVA) and relapse; whereby ââ¬Å"the unsurprising segment of the individual contrasts can be expelled with relapse analysisâ⬠, (Anderson, 2001, p. 283). Interminable â⬠ââ¬Å"all hindrances or deviations from ordinary that have at least one of the accompanying attributes: are perpetual; leave leftover incapacity; are brought about by nonreversible neurotic modification; require uncommon preparing of the patient for recovery; or might be relied upon to require a significant stretch of oversight, perception or careâ⬠, (Sidell, 1997, p. 1) Negative binomial relapse â⬠ââ¬Å"is one of a class of blended Poisson models that blend a second wellspring of change in with the Poisson fluctuation to represent overdispersionâ⬠, (Cohen, et al., 2003, p. 531). Result measures â⬠ââ¬Å"reflect tolerant wellbeing status at either the individual or the total (populace) levelâ⬠, (Stommel Wills, 2004, p. 234). Randomized preliminary A randomized preliminary is a clinical preliminary that relates to ââ¬Å"an analyze in which treatments under scrutiny are assigned by an opportunity mechanismâ⬠, (Brooten, 2006, p.86). Trick Treatment â⬠is the exploratory treatment that ââ¬Å"has no impact and which subjects can't recognize from the dynamic treatment ââ¬Å"(Peat, 2001, p. 20). Basic Analysis In March 15, 2004, the BMJ Publishing Group Ltd, an entirely possessed auxiliary of the British Medical Association, distributed the exploration article in its clinical diary, the British Medical Journal (BMJ). Its ââ¬Å"print BMJ has been distributed persistently since 1840, and now shows up in four week by week releases, changing just in their promoting content. Together, their flow aggregates around 122 000 duplicates, of which 10 000 are appropriated outside Britainâ⬠, (BMJ, undated). Its site gives ââ¬Å"the full content of everything distributed in the print diary since 1994, just as much material special to the webâ⬠, (BMJ, undated). These make the BMJ Publishing Group Ltd. a persuasive and legitimate wellspring of clinical articles. The creators are perceived clinical professionals with various fields of specializations. Andrew Vickers is an associate going to inquire about methodologist at the Integrative Medicine Service, Biostatistics Service, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York; Rebecca Rees is an examination official at the Evidence for Policy and Practice Information and Co-ordinating Center (EPPI-Center), Social Science Research Unit in London; Catherine E Zollman is a general clinical professional from Montpelier Health Center in Bristol; Rob McCarney is an exploration official at the Department of Psychological Medicine, Imperial College in London; Nadia Ellis is speaker Department of Health and Social Sciences, Coventry University in Coventry; and both Peter Fisher, who is the chief of research and Robbert Van Haselen who functions as the agent executive of research are from Royal London Homeopathic Hospital. In this manner, in light of their capabilities, the writers have the believabil ity, required information and skill to participate in a broad logical investigation, for example, the article being assessed. The article is fittingly titled as Acupuncture for interminable migraine in essential consideration: huge, down to earth, randomized preliminary, since it basically focussed on the adequacy of the utilization of needle therapy to alleviate ceaseless cerebral pain. In addition, the title explicitly infers that the technique uses a huge example in the randomized preliminary. The theoretical seems, by all accounts, to be compact and complete. In a couple of sections, the basic research segments were summed up in the theoretical, in particular: (1) the examination objective; (2) setting; (3) members; (4) mediations; (5) fundamental result measures; (6) results; and (7) ends. The theoretical gives the total key data that the perusers need to completely comprehend the article. The presentation clarified the wellbeing costs identified with cerebral pain, which is the primary subject of the article, remembering the need to apply different methodologies for its treatment, especially, needle t herapy. The presentation likewise gives the fundamental point or justification of the investigation, which was: ââ¬Å"to gauge the impacts of needle therapy in practiceâ⬠as a rule; and ââ¬Å"to decide the impacts of an approach of ââ¬Ëuse acupunctureââ¬â¢ on cerebral pain, wellbeing status, days off wiped out, and utilization of assets in patients with interminable migraine contrasted and an arrangement of maintain a strategic distance from acupunctureâ⬠, specifically, (Vickers et al., 2004). In any case, the writing survey was constrained to just one wellspring of distributed work â⬠the Cochrane audit of 26 randomized preliminaries. This would be deficient regarding the degree of assessing accessible wellsprings of data identified with the subject of the investigation. Also, it doesn't give a far reaching assessment of insightful work from which the method of reasoning of the investigation could be based. The examination is a quantitative research, since the information got are spoken to as numbers and measurable treatment was utilized to decipher the information assembled (Grinnell Unrau, 2005, p. 62). Regardless of the absence of understood articulation of the theory, the crowd or peruser can get a general thought or thought of what is being tried (the adequacy of needle therapy in the treatment of incessant cerebral pain). In any case, the factors were not obviously characterized. By and by, the techniques utilized in the strategy were mind boggling and precise. The members were unmistakably recognized and sufficiently depicted in the examination. In the collection of patients, a few phases were built up to encourage the stream and enlistment of members. Figure 1 in the reference section outlines the progression of members in the examination. In addition, moral standards were maintained during the lead of member enrollment. Since most legitimate instruments explicitly restrict the utilization of human subjects for clinical research, the specialists acquired composed educated assent from the members. The specialists actualized a framework to guarantee randomization of the examination through a ââ¬Ëpassword secured databaseââ¬â¢, in this manner taking out the potential for inclination and in this manner improving the nature of the outcomes. As Peat (2001, p. 28), clarifies: ââ¬Å" in randomized controlled preliminaries, the nature of the proof is improved if estimation inclination, for example, spectator or revealing predisposition, is diminished by utilizing target result estimations and if eyewitnesses are blinded to the gathering status of the subjects. The strategy for information assortment ends up being legitimate and solid, as confirm by the generally high number of medications (12 medicines) utilized over an adequate time allotment (3 months). In addition, a subsequent methodology was actualized to create ââ¬Å"a worldwide gauge of current and standard migraine severityâ⬠, (Vickers, et al., 2004). This further improved the legitimacy of the outcomes. The enorm ous example size guaranteed the unwavering quality of the outcomes. Moreover, the utilization of quantifiable results, for example, the Likert size of cerebral pain seriousness wiped out predisposition by broadening basic estimation rules for the respondents. The article corresponded its outcomes with the discoveries in ââ¬Å"prior li

This entails the statement of the problem, background information , and significance of the study, scope of the study and limitation of the study among others. 2 Background of the StudyAccording to UNESCO, Early Childhood is defined as the period from birth to 8 years old. A time of remarkable brain development, these years laid the foundation for subsequent learning. The terms pre-school education and Kindergarten emphasize education around the ages 3-6 years. Early Childhood Education (ECE) often focuses on child learning through play. However, many child care centers are now using more educational approaches. They are creating curricular and incorporating it into the early daily routines to foster greater educational learning. Ideas of ECE can be traced back to 400BC in Platoà ¢Ã¢â ¬s book, "The Republicà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã . Plato advocated that childhood education should be made interesting, and attractive through music, play, number work and geometrical exercises. Similarly, the importance of providing rich early experiences and impressions for children was expressed by John Amos Comenius and John Locke, (Demarest et al,(1993).Their ideas on effective early childhood teaching were expressed in their books: à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"School of infancyà ¢Ã¢â ¬ and à ¢Ã¢â ¬ÃÅ"Some Thoughts on Education,à ¢Ã¢â ¬ respectively.Later philosophers like Jean Jacques, Rousseau and Jean Heinrich Pestalozzi furthered concern for ECE by recognizing the importance of providing education to help young children suffering from deprivation due to war or slum conditions. Did Mary I deserve the title bloody mary - 1488 Words
Did Mary I deserve the title ââ¬ËBloody Maryââ¬â¢? The question of this essay is ââ¬ËDid Mary I really deserve the nickname ââ¬ËBloody Maryââ¬â¢? This essay will show the reasons why she does and why she doesnââ¬â¢t deserve the nickname. Mary I was the daughter of Henry VIII and Catherine of Aragon. She was claimed illegitimate by her father and was forced to sign papers saying that he had never married her mother (Catherine of Aragon). Mary wasnââ¬â¢t allowed to see her mother and was sent away by Henry VIII. She followed the Catholic ways of her mother and became quite religious. Mary was angered that her father was turning Britain into Protestants. When her father finally died, at the age of 55, Mary tried to convince her 10-year-old brother- Edward- toâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦This was a very bad move for Mary, as the French invaded Calais and reclaim the town once again. The town had been hung onto during the Hundred Years War, and was a major blow on England. This turned even more people against Mary I. I have gained this knowledge from a modern textbook. I have also searched on the internet to make sure that this knowledge is correct. On the other hand, there are a number of reasons why Mary I did not deserve her name. The next bit of this essay will tell you why. Mary was often mistreated for her beliefs. She was criticised by the likes of Hugh Latimer and Nicholas Ridely. People started to call the Queen ââ¬ËBloody Maryââ¬â¢ and called her ââ¬ËThe Monstrous Murdererââ¬â¢. I can gain this information from Source B. This tells me that Latimer criticised rich people as well as Catholic people and was a preacher. Ridely was a Bishop of London. This source is reliable as Source C shows Latimer and Ridely getting killed in the woodcut. I also know from my own knowledge and other internet resources that Mary was called ââ¬ËThe Monstrous Murdererââ¬â¢. Mary was also accused of being a witch. The source that tells me this is Source H. This shows a picture of Mary blessing rings which are supposed to cure sickness. I feel this image is trying to portray that Mary had powers. This piece should not be trusted. We know that witches are not actually real. However, the person who has created it surprised me.Show MoreRelatedDiscuss to What Extent the Monster in Frankenstein Is Portrayed as a Tragic Hero?3265 Words à |à 14 Pagesused all of these philosophies of the Romantic Period in writing Frankenstein. Tick Tock... Tick Tock... Tick Tock.... Tick Tock.... God, when will the day bloody end. I was sitting in Geography listening to the teacher drone on about tectonic plates. Question: Discuss about the Portfolio Management. Answer: Portfolio Management can be referred as an art and science of making a decision regarding investment mix and policy harmonizing with the objectives relating to asset allocation for individuals and organizations. The main investment goal of my investment portfolio was to organize a diversified portfolio with an intention to earn appropriate returns on the shares with minimum risk (Martinsuo, 2013). The strategy which has been followed while preparing portfolio evolves not to put all the money in risky shares but to divide the available funds into two parts i.e. the first portion was allocated to the securities from where the return will be received at a small rate, but it was sure that capital return would be received. A major part of the whole investment was done in securities having high and secured returns. The remaining portion was allocable to risky securities having fluctuating marketing value but having the possibility of profit at a higher rate. The portfolio was organized in a way that the overall the losses does not supersede the gains which have been earned and the same have been done by following the strategy of diversification. The information sources which have been taken for the purpose of making transactions involves annual report, history of share prices of the company, tracing the trend being followed by the prices of the company and the data available through news relating to the companies in which investment has been made. In accordance with the study of Beringer, Jonas Kock, (2013), ratios such as operating profit margin, debt equity ratio and dividend per share which were available on finance websites were also assessed in an appropriate manner before making transactions. As per the views of Martinsuo, (2013) lower price of shares has to be reviewed with a new approach and with same focus should be made to the capital development and productivity in the industry. As oil prices have been reduced by approximately sixty percent since summer 2014, but it is expected that the prices will increase. In this situation, it is better to keep stock rather than selling off the same at lower prices. As the prob ability of higher capital profit in future is more; thus the same should be retained. One of the stock i.e. BHP BLT FPO has been sold @ $26 as the share price of same were bullish, and a probability exists that in future prices can be decreased ; thus it is an appropriate time period to sell off the shares. Shares of Wesfarmers Ltd have been bought @ $39 as they had bearish share price and probability exist that maximum capital profits can be gained through them in future. Shares of CWLTH Bank @$90 as the same have reached to a higher value in comparison to the value at which it was purchased; thus they have been sold to attaining maximum profits. NAT GAS which is being traded is SP 500, the share price of same have been decreasing @.29 % in comparison to the last price; thus shares of this company will be purchased as the company has development projects for the future. Shares of Woolworths and MACQ group have also been sold @ $29, and $90 as prices of both the shares were having bullish characteristics; thus the transaction was made after analysing past trends and p resent share price position. The same will be done with the intention of earning more profits by an increase in capital. Share Price of SPDR Gold Trust has been increased @.90 % in comparison to the previous price, but after assessing the trend of past five years, it can be said that the same has decreased by 0.29% in overall. Thus the same will be sold off as it is an appropriate time to sell off the shares so that maximum returns can be earned (SPDR Gold Trust (GLD), Share Performace, 2017). As crude oil is a lucrative investment, thus the same should be kept for future selling because prices have not increased to the expected level. By considering this factor, high volume of trading is done in this security on a daily basis. Thus the other benefit of liquidity is always available with the stock. Figure 1: % Change in price of share of Crude (Source:Crude Oil.Share Performace,2017 ) Earning yield of Dow Jones has been decreased by 1% i.e. it was 6% in the year2015, but for the year2016, it was 5.1%. Thus the stock needs to be assessed for some more time, and then the decision regarding selling and purchasing of shares relating to same should be taken. Figure 2: Comparison of earning yield of Dows and Jones with US GDP (Source: Historical Chart. Dow Jones) It can be accessed from above chart that the annual earnings have been in accordance with the trend which has been followed by U.S. GDP. However, a small volatility has been observed that the percentage available is higher in comparison to the percentage of GDP in recent decades. But as a few negative earnings are present in past few years, the stock needs to be assessed so that more appropriate decision could be taken regarding the shares of Dow and Jones. In accordance with views of Bakker, D. (2014), it is not possible to ascertain what will be the future value of a particular stock but it can be ascertained that whether the share price is presently significantly undervalued or overvalued. This information works as an essential tool for taking a decision relating to purchase and sales of shares. While conducting the transactions and managing the portfolio, I learned the importance of the concept of diversification in portfolio management. It is better to invest in the security of different risk so that overall risk is appropriately managed. Whole investment should not be made higher risk securities because if things do not go according to expectation than there is a risk of higher loss. Thus it is better to invest in securities of different sectors so that fruitful returns can be earned. I learned the manner of assessing key ratio and changes in share price in an appropriate manner. Key ratio and change in share price play an important role in taking a decision relating to sale and purchase of shares (Hollensen, (2015). The ability relating to attaining investment objectives and identifying constraints relating to planning while managing portfolio became more efficient while managing the portfolio. Even I improved the efficiency of measuring and evaluating portfolio performance and rebalancing the portfolio as per the requirement. Now, I am able to implement the strategy relating to purchasing and selling shares in the more appropriate manner in comparison to the manner I do the same in the past. I got introduced to the options and futures during the course. I am able to analyse the performance over the period of time and make the appropriate required adjustment necessary for asset allocation and security selection References Books and Journal Bakker, D. 2014.Vertical Brand Portfolio Management: Strategies for Integrated Brand Management Between Manufacturers and Retailers.
